In this month, the School of Economics and Business Administration of Tan Tao University will organize practical skills courses with a strategy to help you develop yourself to become perfect intrepreneur, include:
I. Alternative Dispute Resolution
A. Course Description:
This course will present an overview of effective Alternative Dispute Resolution (“ADR”) methods – including negotiation, mediation, and arbitration – in the context of international business.
B. Instructor:
Dr. Henry Webb is the Vice – Dean of the Tan Tao University School of Economics & Business Administration and an Associate Professor of Business Law at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) in Indiana, Pennsylvania. United States. Dr. Henry Webb earned his Juris Doctorate from the Lewis and Clark Law School in Portland, Oregon in 1996, and his Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia. From 1996 to 2007, Dr. Webb practiced law for law firms in Seattle, Washington and Atlanta, Georgia. In 2007, Dr. Webb move to Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam, where he taught Business Law at RMIT international University Vietnam. From 2011 to 2014, Dr. Webb taught Legal Research and Writing for the Qatar University College of Law in Doha, Qatar.
C. Learning Outcomes:
(1) understand basic ADR concepts and how those concepts contribute to successful dispute resolution in the context of international business;
(2) effectively use basic negotiation, mediation, and arbitration skills in a variety of real-world contexts;
(3) identify and take into account cultural differences and how they may affect the dispute resolution process;
(4) identify and effectively analyze issues that may prevent disputes from being successfully resolved;
(5) understand how online dispute resolution differs from face-to-face dispute resolution, and the positives and negatives associated with each of those methods;
(6) develop a basic understanding of contract clauses related to ADR, such as mediation and arbitration clauses

Week 1 (8/7-12/7) 9:00am – 12:00pm
Week 2 (15/7-19/7) 8:30am – 10:00am
Week 3 (22/7 – 26/7) 8:30am – 10:00am
II. Effective Public Speaking and Office Professionalism:
A. Course Description:
This course is designed to use a combination of theory and practical skills training to:
(a) prepare students to be more effective public speakers;
(b) introduce students to expected standards of office professionalism in the United States and other Western countries.
B. Instructor:
Dr. Donald Tyler has been an attorney since 1997, is an extremely accomplished and effective public speaker, and is currently an owner and principal in Marine Specialties, Limited (“MSL”), a Virginia-based company which provides high-level consulting and corporate training services to the insurance and marine construction industries throughout the United States. In addition to his law degree, Dr. Tyler also has a graduate degree in chemistry, and he is an expert on environmental issues.
C. Learning Outcomes:
Students will be introduced to basic public speaking concepts and techniques and gain real-world public speaking practice by making a number of individual and group presentations in class. Students will learn about expected standards of office professionalism in western countries via theory-based lectures and practical skills training involving simulated office situations.
D. Course Schedule:
Monday July 15 to Friday July 26, 2019.
Week 1 (15/07-19/07) 10:30am – 1:30pm.
Week 2 (22/07-26/07) 10:30am – 1:30am.
